MY Favorite Castle Rock Neighborhoods
Nestled at 6,202 feet above sea level, Castle Rock is a young community 30 miles south of Denver and 40 miles north of Colorado Springs.
Castle Rock was originally settled in 1874 when Jeremiah Gould donated land just south of “The Rock.” The original settlers came to investigate rumors of gold and available land. The town has grown to a population of over 55,000 and boasts a variety of master planned neighborhoods with different personalities.
All of Castle Rock’s neighborhoods are inside the boundaries for Douglas County School District which is full of award winning schools.
Here are a few details about 5 of my favorite Castle Rock neighborhoods:

THE MEADOWS
A picturesque location, Castle Rock trails, Douglas County open space and parks make The Meadows a truly Colorado neighborhood. At the heart of the neighborhood is The Grange Cultural Arts Center which has a fun pool and has a beautiful space for meetings, dancing and special events. It’s also a great place to stop by for a cup of coffee and a chat. Keep in touch with what is happening in your community on the Meadows Link, a community website. With events almost daily you’ll be fast friends with your neighbors.
Homes in the neighborhood range from $262,000 - $775,000 with a median home price of $410,000. If none of the available homes are what you are hoping for, parts of The Meadows are still under development with plenty of new builds available for purchase.
CRYSTAL VALLEY RANCH
Located on the southern edge of Castle Rock you will find Crystal Valley Ranch. This small area of 500 homes gives you easy access to open space, parks and front range views. Single-track trails wind throughout the neighborhood and connect you quickly to open space. Downtown Castle Rock’s shopping and dining options are just a short drive away.
Homes in the neighborhood range from $264,000 - $825,000 with a median home price of $594,500. The neighborhood is small but there are still a few new developments in the neighborhood. The homes are generally 2-story or ranch style homes with plenty of space for a growing family.
CASTLEWOOD RANCH
Nestled on the west side of I-25 you will find Castlewood Ranch. Many in the neighborhood say it’s a place where they can really breathe. Just to the west of the neighborhood is Castlewood Canyon, a stunning state park. Living in Castlewood Ranch means Castlewood Canyon is right in your backyard! Get out to enjoy great hikes, horseback riding, rock climbing and bird watching.
Homes in Castlewood Ranch range from $235,000 - $875,000 with a median home price of $369,000. Within the neighborhood you will find townhomes, ranches, two stories and multi-level homes. If you don’t find the perfect home on the market, there are still several new homes being built!
DOWNTOWN CASTLE ROCK
This historic part of Castle Rock is full of personality and charm. From small boutiques to big box stores, you’ll find everything you need without having to travel far. The Barn is one of the staples of the neighborhood. This unique shopping experience opened in 1998 and features antique and handmade gifts from a variety of vendors. Keep an eye on the calendar as The Barn is known to provide fun evening entertainment.
Homes in Downtown Castle Rock are older than the surrounding areas and range from $205,000 - $700,000 with a median price of $452,500. Many of the homes are smaller, ranch style homes. Living in Downtown Castle Rock puts you right in the heart of the town.
CASTLE PINES
Formerly a neighborhood to the north of Castle Rock, Castle Pines became a city in 1998. The city is home to about 10,000 residents. The many parks, natural areas, golf courses and shopping all add up to a top-notch lifestyle for residents. In Castle Pines you truly get the small town feel without any of the small town inconveniences.
